We’re looking for a sharp, ambitious engineer who’s excited to build AI-driven products that improve pet health, streamline veterinary care, and help millions of pets live healthier lives.

• Location: Sydney (Hybrid – Tue/Wed/Thu in-office)

Your role

You'll work directly with product, design, and leadership to architect and ship high-impact features that drive measurable improvements in pet health outcomes and veterinary efficiency. You'll own technical decisions, mentor engineers, and set the bar for quality.

• 🛠️ Ship real products that improve pet health and veterinary care

• 📈 Build event-driven systems to manage pet health data, streamline vet workflows, and simplify pet parent interactions

• 🤖 Turn cutting-edge AI into reliable, production-ready features (guardrails, evals, monitoring)

• 🔍 Collaborate directly with vets, ops, and product teams to create meaningful, measurable improvements in pet health outcomes

What you'll build

• High-volume event ingestion & normalisation: Integrating and cleaning data from fragmented veterinary systems, health events, and legacy tech – into clearly defined, auditable domain events

• Real-time, event-driven architecture: Vet visits triggering health record updates, follow-up reminders, and actionable insights in minutes (not days)

• AI-powered clinical workflows: Automating triage, symptom evaluation, summarisation, follow-ups, and personalised care recommendations

• Reliable workflow engines: Robust, human-friendly systems with comprehensive audit trails, replayable decisions, and clear paths for humans-in-the-loop

• Productionising AI: Turning fuzzy outputs into clear, safe decisions using structured outputs, verification, and targeted explainability

• Data-driven AI evaluation loops: Labelled datasets, offline/online evaluations, regression tests, and ongoing monitoring so quality stays stable

• Core domain models & platform primitives: Foundations (Pets, Health Records, Care Plans) that enable rapid, safe innovation

About you

You ship fast, smart, and reliably. You simplify complexity relentlessly, are comfortable making decisions quickly, and care deeply about creating impactful outcomes for pets.

• 5+ years shipping impactful software at scale

• Comfortable with TypeScript, React, Next.js, and GCP (or similar and quick to adapt)

• Pragmatic builder – knowing when to scale and when to iterate quickly

• You have great product thinking, and love to understand the user problem, challenge requirements, and push for outcomes over output

• Obsessed with reliability, observability, and trustworthiness

• Clear communicator, effective collaborator across teams

• Strong backend foundations: highly scalable distributed systems with solid resilience processes and auditibility of all automated decisions

• Experience with event-driven architectures or workflow engines

• Bonus - real-world production AI experience (structured outputs, evaluation loops, guardrails)

• Bonus – experience in healthcare, veterinary, fintech or related industries
